Usability Testing: Fivesecondtest

This post was most recently updated on March 15th, 2016

While reading some testing blog I’ve came across fivesecondtest. I click on the link and realized; it’s a bit addictive. It’s an online tool for usability testing.

If you need some simple usability feedback, give it a try. If you’re a tester and just want something fun to practice on, I found this a nice short diversion. I suspect I’ll check back from time to time to test other designs.

 Short Intro:

For  Usability test here you have four test scenarios which you can use for your site and Create tests or you can test generally the other sites

1.Five Second test – Here you need to observe a design for five seconds and answer the questions asked. It is memory based test to check the prominence of the web page.

2.Click test – Here you asked to click for particular section of the page e.g. “where would you click to show your notifications?” which help to create user-friendly webpage.

3.Preference test – Here two designs are shown to you and ask to choose one of them. This helps to decide more attractive webpage design according to you.

4. Nav Flow test – Here you ask to click on links to navigate through web pages of given pages. This test helps you to decide flow of the web pages.

The memory test is hard. Click test, Preference test and Nav Flow test was much easier, and for me, more fun. One couldn’t remember anything and one couldn’t focus on anything long enough to click on it before time expired but it is good exercise for brain too.
