What is Microsoft Viva

Microsoft Viva is an employee experience platform, helping you create a work environment that puts people first, driving better business results.

Microsoft Viva has 4 verticals – Viva Topics, Viva Connections, Viva Learnings, Viva Insights

• Microsoft Viva Topics 
  • Features:
    • Topic cards: Deliver knowledge in context, with topic cards surfaced across Outlook, Teams, Search, and other Microsoft 365 apps.
    • Topic pages: Bring together relevant content, conversations, and expertise from across your organization in topic pages created by the AI capabilities of Microsoft Viva.
    • Topic centres: Manage your organization’s topics, recognize relationships between them, or manually add and create additional topics.
    • Knowledge curation: Enable experts across your organization to revise topics, pin resources, and identify other experts while Microsoft Viva Topics learns and makes updates.
    • Search and discovery: Offer a seamless and integrated experience across Microsoft 365, with topics discoverable in Microsoft Search, and in the apps you use every day.
    • Management and administration :Generate and show topics generated only from the content users are allowed to see, based on your security and privacy settings in Microsoft 365.
  • Objective:
    • Viva Topics uses AI to automatically connect, organize, and protect content across teams and systems.
    • Viva Topics recommended various Topics based on your system content.
    • There are two ways we can generate topics:
      • Create topics manually,
      • Enable AI to detect and generate topics automatically.
    • Once a topic is created, AI will update the topic and related resources as it discovers new information. In addition, there is the option to manually update topic cards and pages to adjust the topic description or highlight new resources and connections.
    • Later this year Microsoft will release a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) that allow customers to highlight topics and show topic cards in additional apps. These APIs will allow other Microsoft app teams and our independent software vendor (ISV) partners to build integrations into Microsoft Viva Topics.
    • We can tag any Topics in the SharePoint page using Hashtag.
  • License information: We can activate 1 Month Free Trial in your O365 tenant. But tenant requires Microsoft 365 F1, F3, E3, A3, E5, A5, Office 365 F3, E1, A1, E3, A3, E5, A5, Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, or SharePoint K, Plan 1, or Plan 2 license to be eligible for Microsoft Viva Topics. 

• Microsoft Viva Connections 

Provides a single-entry point for team member engagement and internal communications. We can think of it as a gateway to our digital workplace. 

• • Features
    • A brandable and customizable dashboard environment
    • Easy access to broadcasts for team leaders
    • Organizable documents and company policies
    • A constantly updating news feed, like social media.
    • A resources tab where customers can access useful information.
    • Communities and town hall environments

• • Deploy Viva Connections on our existing infrastructure.
    • Viva Connections is built on our current Microsoft 365 ecosystem, and powered by SharePoint, so we can start engaging our workforce immediately.
    • Extend our SharePoint intranet content, including our home site, into Microsoft Teams.
    • Target our content based on our existing Azure Active Directory groups.
    • Customize our dashboards with Power Apps, SPFx, and the third-party solutions we have already deployed in our organization.
    • Aggregate news and conversations from SharePoint and Yammer.
    • Drive engagement in employee communities in Yammer to support employee resource groups, knowledge sharing, and leadership initiatives.
    • Pin files and videos from Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft Stream.

• • We can be ready for Microsoft Viva Connections
    • Viva Connections will be available for desktop in the first half of 2021 and for mobile in summer 2021. Additional features will roll out over the course of 2022.
    • To get ready we can take below in mean time:
    • Upgrade to SharePoint Online to store and manage the content, applications, and resources that facilitate teamwork; find information quickly; and collaborate seamlessly across the organization. 
    • Deploy a SharePoint home site and establish a landing place for your organization on the intelligent intranet.
    • Launch Yammer communities in Microsoft Teams to connect people across the organization.

• Microsoft Viva Learning

Through Microsoft Viva Learning, business leaders can assign small courses, webinars, and other educational experiences to specific team members, based on their goals, or the leaders’ knowledge of the extra support that staff might need.  The Learning environment in Viva combines all the learning resources that may be available to our team in a single space, including tools from LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, Microsoft Learn, edX, and the content library maintained by the company.

• Microsoft Viva Insight

    • Microsoft Viva Insights gives individuals, managers, and leaders personalized and actionable insights that help everyone in an organization thrive.
    • Viva Insights is designed to protect privacy. Personal insights are visible only to the individual, and for manager and leader insights, customers can rely on safeguards like de-identification, aggregation, or differential privacy by default.
    • In addition to new productivity and wellbeing experiences and insights in Microsoft Teams, Viva Insights will, over time, bring the power of Microsoft Workplace Analytics and Microsoft My Analytics together under the Microsoft Viva brand.
    • We can install the Viva Insights app in Teams. An initial set of personal insights is available in public preview for users on Microsoft Exchange Online. Manager and leader insights are available in public preview for licensed Workplace Analytics customers.
